HRU Gives Back

After more than twenty years of working with children in foster care, our giving back focus has shifted to those who have sacrificed so much for our safety and freedom - our Purple Heart heroes. In 2013 we began working with The Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation (www.wwiaf.org) and have been so humbled by stories that bring a new definition to the term courage.

In December of 2014, we were honored with the privilege of being named "Associates" for WWIAF and received the Volunteer of the Southeast award. We are privileged to open our home to those enduring the long lasting impact of the physical and emotional wounds related to combat. Read more about our work with WWIAF on our Giving Back page.

New Book For Nurse Managers!

Shelley Cohen and Sharon Cox combined their years of leadership development experiences and came together to write Essential Skills for Nurse Managers published through HCPro. Nurse managers are often promoted into their positions with little to no formal training on management and leadership tasks. Essential Skills for Nurse Managers is a book that serves to support orientation of new managers as well as a reference guide for the more seasoned nurse manager.

The book provides downloadable forms, PowerPoint slides, and checklists on all the key topics, which can be used by directors or educators to hold management/leadership training classes. In Essential Skills for Nurse Managers, novice and experienced nurse managers alike will find the proven strategies, tools, and resources they need to excel as nurse leaders.

More information about the book and ordering details are on our Catalog Page. Don't miss out on a new release discount being offered!!
